Emily and Jack most popular names for NT babies

Emily and Jack have topped the list of the Territory's most popular baby names for 2005.

Births, Deaths and Marriages says 20 sets of parents named their baby girls Emily last year which soared up the list from fifth in 2004.

Lily came a close second with 19, while Sophie made the list for the first time, and ranked third with 17 registrations.

Chloe, Grace and Emma have remained popular girls names for a number of years.

Jack topped the list for boys names and was also favourite in 2003.

James, Lachlan, Benjamin and Joshua were also popular choices for boys last year.

But Liam, which ranked equal first with Joshua in 2004, did not even make the top 20 in 2005.
